Gambling help in British Columbia is free, and the provincial support line answers at any hour. This page lists the line, the advisors inside every casino and the way to keep yourself out.

One number, any hour

Gambling Support BC is a provincial government program, and its line at 1-888-795-6111 is free and open 24/7. Any resident of BC facing difficulties because of gambling may call. That includes people worried about a loved one's gambling. A navigator picks up and can help on the spot, find services nearby or connect the caller to a free counsellor.

Counselling through Gambling Support BC is free for BC residents, offered as short-term treatment by qualified professionals. As of April 1, 2026, the support line and the counselling operate as a single provincewide service with TELUS Health. The Gambling Support Line is multilingual. Requests for help can also be made online at gamblingsupportline.ca, at any hour.

Inside the casino

Each British Columbia casino offers a GameSense Advisor to people who are being harmed by gambling. So support sits within the casino walls, not just at the other end of a phone call. A guest who wants to talk can ask for the advisor during the visit, without leaving the building.

Game Break: keeping yourself out

Game Break, BC's self-exclusion program, is free and voluntary. Each person chooses one term, whether 6 months, 1 year, or 2 or 3 years, and cannot revise it afterwards. It applies to entering BC gaming facilities and playing there, as well as to play on PlayNow.com. Excluding from a facility also excludes a person from PlayNow.com for the same period.

To enrol, a person meets a registered gaming worker in person at a gaming facility. A BCLC employee can also handle it by electronic means. Since June 2023, government-issued photo ID has been required of everyone who enters a BC gambling facility. Every ID is checked against the self-exclusion list. A self-excluded person who plays anyway is not entitled to a prize.

Under the Gaming Control Act, online gaming means play through the online platform that the lottery corporation runs. Game Break therefore reaches PlayNow.com and no other online site. The private casino behind this site's paid home-page links is among them. Game Break and PlayNow limits do not apply there.
