A drawn figure, not a person
Sloane Carrick is not a real person but a character invented for this guide. The drawn figure on the pages is her, and she signs every page. She is never shown playing.
The paintings of Sloane, and the painted landscapes on the region pages, were made with an image generator. None of these scenes was painted or photographed at a casino, which suits a columnist who travels on paper. She does not work for any casino or for BCLC, and she does not speak for them. The only photographs on the site are five casino pictures from Wikimedia Commons. Each one carries its author and licence directly beneath it.
The guide itself is independent. It does not operate as a casino, accept bets or keep accounts. Paid links are confined to the home page, where each is tagged Ad. Each one opens a privately owned online casino, separate from PlayNow and neither operated nor licensed by the province. No payment reaches the site from venues, BC Ferries, BC Transit or help services.
Where she turns up
On the home page's first screen, Sloane points at the region panel and carries a tag on the Pacific clock, UTC-7 all year. Further down, her tag gives the Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay sailing: 1 h 35 min. Region pages give the tag each region's key fact, and on the casino-or-gaming-centre page she points at the floor filter.
A venue page with no free photo shows her drawing and a tag with one checked fact, such as a straight-line distance or the hours. Short notes from her sit on cards beside sections. Her drawing is absent from the pages on online play, help and how the guide is paid for.
How the facts are checked
The details in these pages were checked on October 7, 2026, one by one, against official records and each venue's own website. Certain venue websites do not allow automated reading. For these, the guide relied on archived versions of the same pages and labels the hours as last published, giving the month. Hours are local time as each venue publishes them: Pacific time across BC, Mountain time at Casino of the Rockies in Cranbrook. Holiday hours are left out; confirm them on the venue's own site.
Distances are straight lines between OpenStreetMap coordinates, computed by the guide, and they are not driving distances. Travel times come only from BC Ferries' own pages. When official pages disagree, the guide either drops the figure or states clearly that the sources do not match.
